Dear Squashers,
Thanks for playing in the 2007 Kentucky State Squash Tournament and
thanks for the memories!
We had 44 participants in 4 Singles divisions this past weekend,
including contingents from Memphis and Owensboro. It was the first Kentucky State Tournament
sanctioned by the US Squash Racquets Association. Players will receive national
rankings, plus the US Squash website was helpful in making draws and posting
results. Next year we hope to get the
times and court locations of matches up on the US Squash website more completely
and earlier.

In the 5.0 Jay Hatcher beat John Singerman (the father) in the Semis,
only to face Kevin (the son) in the finals.
It was a hard fought 3-2 match. The 4.5 finals saw a cliff-hangar 3-2
match between John O’Callaghan and Graham Baughman. Owensboro sent in another racquetballer, Bob
Hunzinger, who won the 4.0 like Greg Coke did before him. 15 year old Biggs Eckman is coming on strong,
while Bill Hinkebein played a valiant match against this quick youngster. You
squash players burned a lot of carbs this weekend. Congratulations to all
participants!
